Melting Ice Cubes - Time Lapse - Full HD
After a longer break with no videos from my side, the indoor crafting season starts again.

To start the season, here a small experiment. I asked myself how long it would take until some ice cubes in a 100 ml glass would take to melt. I was amazed about the result...

Technical details:
Made from a total of 630 photographs, with one shot every 10 seconds (= 300x)
Camera settings:
45mm, f/9, 1 s, ISO 100
RAW conversion was done with RawTherapee. Blender 2.71 was used for video editing.
I used a simple setup with a mirror, a black cloth and two LED spots. Two sheets of tracing paper served as diffusers.

A homemade polar planimeter. A planimeter measures the area of irregular shapes and is used for maps and technical drawings. This instrument is made from wood, brass wire and some plastic gears. It achieves an accuracy of 2.5%.

Homemade ion thruster using 30kV Voss machine

A homemade ion thruster, powered by a Voss machine (max. 30kV, see ua-cam.com/video/p0sO-p1HHsU/v-deo.html). Voltage is probably much lower here (maybe 10kV?) due to permanent leakage through corona discharge. Demonstration of the ion engine and explanation of principle of operation.

A small, homemade Voss machine / Toepler-Holtz machine, made from CDs. Sparks up to 1cm, which requires approx. 30kV. The generator is equipped with 2 Leyden jars of 1 nF each.

A homemade puzzle box / trick opening box. There is a hidden maze (labyrith) inside the walls of the box. You have to guide a steel ball to a specific point to open the box. Made of approx. 80 parts of wood and fiberboard.

No, there is no way to reset. But there are also no dead ends, so you can't "get lost".
